Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge Tickets: Lines, Prices and Timed Slots

The glass bridge is the one attraction in Zhangjiajie that sells out, and the one with the most ways to get it wrong. It is 430 metres long, six metres wide, and the valley floor sits about 300 metres below it. It is also a 60-kilometre drive from the city, and it runs on timed, real-name slots. Turning up and hoping is not a plan.

Below is what the three ticket lines actually are, what the bridge will and will not let you carry onto it, and the refund rule that is stricter here than anywhere else in Zhangjiajie.

Three lines, three prices

Line What it covers Price Time
Line B The glass bridge, the canyon walk, and the boat across Shenquan Lake. No backtracking. RMB 219 3–4 hours
Line C The bridge on its own. On, photos, back the same way. RMB 128 about 1 hour
Line A The canyon walk only. No bridge. For people who would rather not. RMB 53 2–3 hours

Here is the park’s own price board, photographed on site. Read the list-price column and add the RMB 3 insurance charged at the gate: 216 becomes the 219 above, 125 becomes 128, 50 becomes 53. Every number on this page comes off this board.

Line B, the one almost everybody buys, is RMB 219 at the park’s price and around RMB 178 online. It covers the bridge, the canyon walk and the boat.

Which one you want comes down to nerve and time. Line C is the bridge on its own, RMB 128, and about an hour. You go on, take the photos, and come back the same way. And there is usually somebody in the group who does not want to walk out onto 300 metres of nothing. Buy line A. It is the canyon walk on its own, RMB 53, and it does not go near the bridge.

Concessions: 65 and over, and children under 1.2 metres, pay no entry at all — just the RMB 3 insurance. Students and anyone 60 to 64 pay roughly half on line B, about RMB 110. Bring the physical document. A photo of a student card has never worked at this gate.

And this is where the Grand Canyon differs from the National Forest Park. Its concession prices are not limited to Chinese ID holders. Whatever the discount column on the official board above says for a student, a senior or a child under 1.2 metres, a foreign passport gets the same number on the same items. We book those for you, because the online systems only sell the adult line.

What the bridge actually is

430 metres end to end, six metres wide, and roughly 300 metres of air between the walkway and the valley floor. That is about three times the height of a 100-metre tower, which is the number that lands when you are standing on it.

  • It has no piers. It is a suspension structure hung across the gorge, which is why the walkway feels hollow underfoot.
  • It holds up to 800 people at a time, and the timed slots are what keep it to that. The queue you are in exists on purpose.
  • Weather closes it. High wind, heavy rain or thick fog and the bridge shuts, sometimes without much warning. It is not the park being difficult; it is 300 metres of glass in the air.

Rules that catch people out

  • Around 8,000 people a day, in slots. In summer and over the October holiday it goes days ahead. The gate is not a backup plan.
  • Real name, tied to your document. Booked under the name in your passport, checked at the gate.
  • Nothing on the bridge but a phone in a case and a wallet. Selfie sticks, bags, bottles and tripods stay in the free lockers at the bridgehead.
  • Shoe covers are included with any ticket that includes the bridge. Nobody sells you a pair, and you do not need one.
  • No heels, and no arguing about it. Same for anyone visibly unwell.
  • Miss your slot and it is gone. Not “come back in an hour”. Gone.

Can you just turn up and buy one? Not usefully. The bridge caps at around 8,000 a day and runs on timed real-name slots. In season there is nothing left at the gate.

What you may carry across is a short list. A phone in a case and a wallet. Selfie sticks, bags, bottles and tripods stay in the free lockers at the bridgehead.

Inside the canyon there are extras: a zipline, a slide, a vertical lift down to the valley floor, and a bungee that costs more than the rest of the day put together. None of them are in any ticket line.

If you are holding a foreign passport

Exactly the problem it is everywhere else in Zhangjiajie, only further from help. A Chinese ID card scans through. A passport does not.

Bring the physical passport to a staffed window at the gate, and they will check it against the booking before you go in. Allow ten to fifteen minutes for it, and do not find out about it at 3pm with a slot expiring.

Booking through us

We hold an allocation with the park, so we are not refreshing a page at the wrong moment hoping a slot appears. You send us passport details, we book the date and the slot, and we tell you what time to be at the bridgehead.

We charge the face value of the ticket. No service fee, no markup. If the park runs a cheaper rate for your dates, that is the rate you pay. We confirm first, then send you a PayPal payment link. We do not take card numbers by email or WhatsApp, and we do not ask for your passport photo in a web form — those come later, by WhatsApp or email, once the slot is held.

Getting out of it

Of every park in Zhangjiajie, this one is the strictest about refunds. The bridge runs on slots, and a slot you do not use is a slot the park sold and cannot resell.

When you cancel What you get back
Before we issue the ticket Everything
After it is issued, if you never entered that day The park keeps 5%, you get the rest
You missed the slot without telling us Nothing
Your flight was delayed or cancelled We move the booking, no charge

Ask before your slot and we refund it. Once it is issued and you never entered, the park keeps 5% and you get the rest. Miss the slot without telling us and there is nothing to refund.

The time that counts is when we receive your message. Not when a system logs it. If your connection drops, or the app will not load on hotel wifi, or it is three in the morning where your phone thinks it is — we go by the timestamp on our side.

Getting there

The canyon is at Sanguansi in Cili county: about 60 kilometres from Zhangjiajie city, and a 30 to 40 minute drive from Wulingyuan. It is a separate park with a separate ticket, and it is nowhere near Tianmen Mountain — the two are an hour and a half apart, and people book them on the same afternoon.

Line B works as a half day. Most people do it with the three-day itinerary, or they take a private driver for the day and let the car wait.

WhatsApp — +86 180 7449 1863. We answer in English, usually within a few hours and always within 24.

Email — lianjizhi0744@hotmail.com. Easier if you are sending passport details.

What to send us: your dates, how many people, and which line you want. Say if you are not sure — that is the question we ask you anyway.

Tickets and passes for the other parks are on our ticket booking page.
